Pushkar - India’s Queenstown

Sights of Jaipur

2000 women celebrating Shiva. The procession was all about love - the women were singing and laughing and having a superb time.

Stylish wet weather gear

We arrived in Pushkar today. A holy town - Hindus come here from all over India to worship. The town is set around a holy lake and has 52 bathing ghats.
We managed to get conned within the first 5 mins of beginning our walk around the town. Yes - us, seasoned travellers got conned. The touts got our attention by giving us lovely smelling rose petals and then without realising it we were herded, shed ...and sheared! All 4 of us found ourselves doing a holy prayer ritual with rose petals, chants etc ...and then had money demanded of us. A classic move by the locals. They tried to demand we donate ridiculous amounts and were not happy when we only gave a small amount.  I did share a karakia with my guy before I realised he was a con man! Thought we were sharing quite a moment!

The town is fun and so very busy with Indian tourists.

Tomorrow we climb 900 steps to watch the place wake up.
We are still recovering from the 600 step climb to a temple in Jaipur.
